On our homepage, check out the weekly updates! Go Hawks!
Dear Hawks,
We're excited to share an update about our upcoming construction project that will bring significant improvements to our facilities and learning environments. As part of this project, grades 6-8 will be housed in the High School building for the majority of the 2025-26 school year.
We know this change will mean a different daily routine for students, staff, and families. While transitions like this can take some adjustment, we are confident the year will be a great one - filled with strong learning opportunities, positive relationships, and memorable experiences for all of our Hawks. Our team is committed to creating a smooth, supportive environment where every student can thrive.
In an effort to give everyone a little information about the upcoming year, please take a few minutes to review the following document: 2025-26 Back to School FAQ .
Please contact the Main Office at 641-594-4445 if you have any questions. We are here to help!

We look forward to seeing all of our students and families at Back to School Night. Grades 6-12 will be held from 6:30-7:30.
This evening is an opportunity for all students to visit their classrooms and teachers.
Come visit us and kick off the school year!
High Schoolers: iPads are available to be picked up in the High School Main office between Monday, Aug. 18 and Thursday, Aug. 21st. Students must be registered for school and has signed the technology agreement before an iPad will be issued.
The office hours are 8:00am-12:00pm, and 1:00pm-3:30pm
Once you have picked up your iPad, please plug it in at home, and connect it to wifi for a few hours before coming to school. This will help your device pull down any updates and be ready to use on the first day!
Middle Schoolers: Each middle school student is assigned a school-issued iPad that they are responsible for throughout the school day. iPads are to be used for school-specific purposes and returned to their assigned charging location at the end of the day. iPads will be issued on the first day of school.
Please log in to JMC and look up your class schedule before the first day of school so that you know where to go. Please stop by the office or email Susan if you need your JMC password. We will not be printing hard copies of schedules.
Reminder: students have three days to change their schedule for the semester. To do this please contact Mrs. O’Halloran at ohalloran@lshawks.com or stop by her office during your passing period.
K-5 Hawk Families -
Our staff is excited to kick off the 25-26 school year. There is always a lot happening in our building, and this year will be extra busy with our renovation project that kicked off this past June. As our classrooms have shifted around, the teachers and staff have done a remarkable job of creating positive and welcoming environments for our students. Even though classrooms and libraries are located in different spaces, our day-to-day operations as a school should feel very similar.
Communication is always important, and that will be especially true this year as we shift between phases of the construction project. Changes will take place during the year in classroom locations and pick-up/drop-off expectations, so please be on the lookout for that information and let us know if you have any questions.
As a school community, we are here to support our students and families. If there is a way we can be of assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out. We strongly believe amazing things can happen when the important adults in a student's life, both at home and at school, work together.

We look forward to seeing all of our students and families at Back to School Night, Thursday, August 21st from 6:00-7:00PM. This evening is an opportunity for all students to visit their classrooms, teachers, and drop off their school supplies.
We can't wait to welcome everyone back for the 25-26 school year!
Having a school environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued is very important to us! To help create and maintain that culture, we focus on showing our Hawk BEST.
B - Be Respectful and Kind
E - Excellent Effort
S - Stay Safe
T - Take Responsibility
Students will learn what it means to meet these expectations throughout the school day. Staff members use blue tickets paired with specific positive feedback to reinforce when students are showing their Hawk BEST. When we meet our school-wide ticket goal, we will recognize the positive choices students are making through fun and creative school-wide celebrations. Please encourage your child to show their Hawk BEST and help create a safe and positive learning environment for all!
We're so excited to see all the students back at school and we hope everyone is ready for a great year! To make sure our days run smoothly, here are a few important reminders for parents:
Absences: If your child will be absent, please call or email our Prek-5 secretary, Keelie Wanders by 8:30 AM - 641-594-4445 or wanders@lshawks.com
Appointments: If your child needs to leave during the school day for an appointment, please give the elementary office at least a 30-minute notice.
Dismissal Changes: If your child's dismissal plans change, please notify the elementary office by 2:00 PM.
Your cooperation helps keep our students safe and organized, thank you for your support!
